Mercedes Carrera-Torres

Mercedes Carrera Torres is a highly skilled accounting professional with over 16 years of combined experience in audit and tax. She is a Uniform CPA Exam candidate, having passed FAR, REG, and TCP, and is currently awaiting her AUD results.

Mercedes earned dual degrees in Accounting and Business Administration (with a focus in Finance) from Florida International University, as well as a Bachelor’s in Economics and Finance from Universidad Católica de Santiago de Guayaquil in Ecuador. Her diverse educational background gives her a well-rounded, international perspective on financial systems and compliance.

She has managed and performed audits, single audits, reviews, and compilations for a wide range of clients—including nonprofits, CIRAs, retailers, and construction companies. In the tax field, Mercedes prepares and reviews complex returns for domestic and international clients, with deep expertise in foreign trusts, CFCs, PFICs, and international tax compliance.

Mercedes is known for her sharp analytical skills, attention to detail, and dedication to delivering high-quality work. She brings a thoughtful, client-focused approach to every engagement.

Outside of her professional life, Mercedes is a proud mother who enjoys traveling with her family, reading, and staying current on technology—an area she’s passionate about and would have pursued professionally if not for her love of accounting.
